This project focused on building a mobile first app and then a responsive website for a restaurant inventory company serving the central southern USA.
The product:
This is a responsive website for taco truck restaurant owners. The name of the app is Total Taco. This is a secondary case study that was extended from the original mobile app case study. The app is designed to help maintain inventory and make orders. The target users are taco truck restaurant owners.
The problem:
Taco truck restaurant owners did not have a way to maintain an inventory via a mobile app during the first phase of the project. Taco truck restaurant owners now have a mobile app but they need a responsive website that can be used on multiple devices.
The goal:
To design an app to make keeping an inventory for taco truck restaurant owners easy and accessible. To create an mobile app and responsive website that can compete in the market, improve sales, and increase customer satisfaction
Role: UX designer leading the app and responsive website design from conception to delivery
Timeline: December 2021 to June 2022 (mobile first and responsive design combined)
Responsibilities: Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high-fidelity prototyping, conducting usability studies, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.
Total Taco app was designed to attract and retain small business owners that operate taco truck restaurants. Total Taco app competitors offer responsive websites and mobile apps for their customers to order through and maintain inventory, and they have been very successful.
The goal is to create a product that can compete in the market, improve sales, and increase customer satisfaction.
The assumptions made before conducting the research was that the app was easy to use and fulfilled the needs of users.
After the research was conducted, it was discussed that more accessibility is needed as well as a different user flow.

Competitive Audit Report
Impact:
Users shared that the responsive website provided convenience and ease in maintaining an inventory for their business.
Quotes were:
“I like being able to use multiple devices and pick up where I left off”.
"This is fine. I could use this app in the future. “
“[I] Think the layout is pretty simple and similar to other apps that I currently use. “
"Yeah, this app makes sense so far. “
What I learned:
I learned that the problem was common for business owners who have to multi task to run their business. I diligently went through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs helped me come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful for the user.
Throughout this project, I have learned that design takes constant thought and consideration. Designs need to be evaluated and adjusted based on the needs of users. This is a constant and iterative process.
Next steps
Continue with usability studies for more iterations to find out what additional adjustments are needed.
Conduct research on how successful the responsive website is in helping business owners get more done and maintain inventory.
Add more educational resources for users to learn about cross functional use of inventory.
Provide incentives for continued use of the website to maintain inventory.
